Site-Specific Installation and Artist’s Book, Repérages or À la découverte de notre monde or Sans titre Group Exhibition, curated by Dominique Fontaine, articule, Montreal, QC, CA
For three months (from March 20 to June 20, 2015), every day at approximately 5:45 PM, I systematically recorded my geographical coordinates and took a picture of the sky above me. I also wrote down the smells I could detect, the memories that they evoked as well as my thoughts in that moment. All this data, linked as much to facts as fleeting impressions, were filed and organized according to day and serve as source material for the creation of a hybrid map that is at once geographic and mental.
In the exhibition, circular photos of the sky along with the date they were taken are fixed to the wall relative to their original location. This forms a constellation of multiple “nows,” a sample of ephemeral information completed by a large-size list of dates, geographical coordinates, sensations, memories and compiled evocations. A flipbook also synthesizes all the elements in an easily accessible format.
